Japan too strong in 9-16 placement match at Women's Team World Cup 2018

In the 1st placement match 9-16, the women's national team had to concede defeat to the team from Japan, seeded 10th, at the Women's Team World Championship in Dalian (China). Nele Hatschek secured the first set win for the German team at this World Championship in position 2.
National coach Oliver Pettke nominated Franziska Hennes (DRL 11, Paderborner SC) against Japan’s Satomi Watanabe (WRL 45) at the top position for the encounter. Hennes lost her match in three sets, putting Japan ahead 1-0. Germany’s Nele Hatschek (DRL 4, SRC Duisburg 1993) recovered from a 0-2 deficit to win the connecting set in position two against Misaki Kobayashi (WRL 46). However, she then narrowly lost the fourth set, which decided the victory for Japan, and due to the Dead Rubber rule the third match between Annika Wiese (DRL 28, Paderborner SC) and Risa Sogimoto (WRL 204) no longer took place. Final score thus 2:0 for Japan.
We wish Nele Hatschek and the national team all the best and much success in tomorrow’s match against hosts China (seeded 16/16) for the further progress in the competition.
